THE LEGACY ISSUE

SUCCESS IS WHAT YOU BUILD.

LEGACY IS WHAT YOU LEAVE IN OTHERS.

When we hear the word legacy, it's easy to think about what we leave behind.

Money. Business. Property. Our name.

All the things people will remember long after we're gone.

But I've started to think that maybe we're looking at legacy from the wrong end of the story.

It isn't something that begins when your life ends.

You're building it right now.

How you show up for people matters. So does the knowledge you share, the opportunities you create, and the encouragement you give when nobody else is watching.

Maybe someone took a chance because you told them they were capable.

Someone else walked into a room a little more confidently because you made sure there was a seat for them.

Another person avoided one of your mistakes because you were willing to tell the truth about what you learned from it.

Sometimes we become so focused on building successful lives that we forget to ask what all of that success is actually for.

Is it simply to accumulate more?

Are we always chasing the next goal or looking for another accomplishment to attach to our name?

At some point, shouldn't our success begin creating something beyond us?

I believe it should.

That doesn't require millions of dollars, a foundation with your name on it, or some grand plan to change the world.

Some of it happens around a dinner table.

Other times, it's a conversation with someone trying to figure out something you've already survived.

You might mentor someone, support a small business, teach your children what nobody taught you, or open a door and make sure you don't immediately close it behind you.

Some of the greatest impact we'll ever have may come from things we'll never receive credit for.

And maybe that's the point.

Eventually, the question becomes less about what did I accomplish?

Instead, we begin asking:

Who is better because I was here?

That's what this issue is about.

Not simply what we leave behind someday, but what we're leaving in people today.

Welcome to The Legacy Issue.
